Winter break – services, support and activities available for those staying on campus

Students on campus

Any students who wish to remain on campus over the winter break are more than welcome to do so, and during this time the University remains committed to providing services and activities that will allow you to enjoy a great experience and access support should you need it.

Activities and events

A programme of in-person and online events and activities will be available over the winter break period for you to get involved with.

All activities and events will be listed on the My Liverpool app, free for all students to download on the App Store and Google Play. On the app you can view events, create a personalised planner and access information and support. If you turn on the app notifications and location tracker you will be sent new information as it announced.


Services and facilities

Below you’ll find an overview of the opening times for campus services and facilities over the winter break, however, you can also access further University support and services online.

Libraries

From Friday, 24 December to Monday, 3 January, opening hours will be as follows:

During the winter break, study spaces will be open and you will be able to access and borrow books from the shelves.

Helpdesks in the libraries will be closed from 24 December to 4 January so if you need support, please access support via our online enquiry service.

All of our online resources such as databases, e-books and e-journals will continue to be available 24 hours a day via the library website as well as KnowHow Academic Skills online tutorials. Access the tutorials via the KnowHow: Study for success module on Canvas:

Liverpool Guild of Students

The Guild will be closed until the following dates:

Starbucks

Courtyard, Mountford Hall and Sphinx

Guild Shop

Online Shop, Advice Centre and Reception

Sport Liverpool

The Sports & Fitness Centre will be operating with vacation period hours over the winter break. Please see this webpage for full details. 

Halls

Anybody who wishes to remain in Halls for the winter break, or part of it, is more than welcome to do so. Halls will remain open for the entirety of the break and the Halls Life Team have some activities planned to help keep you entertained. Find out more on the Halls Life webpages.


Accessing support services

Over the winter break period, Student Services will be providing a drop-in session in the KnowHow room at the Sydney Jones library between 10am and 2pm on Wednesday, 29, Thursday, 30 and Friday, 31 December.

Drop in on the Wednesday or Friday for support from the team if you need it. On Thursday, 30 December, the team will be delivering an activity session including coffee and cake for anyone who wants some company and doesn’t have any plans on the day.

Emergency and out of hours support

Feeling unwell?

If you are feeling ill and are concerned ring NHS on 111. They are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

To get help from NHS 111, you can:

Mental health support

In an emergency, or if you don’t feel that you can keep yourself safe, go to accident and emergency (A&E), or call 999 for an ambulance. If you’re not in need of immediate medical treatment and unsure what the best option is for you, call NHS 111 who can advise you.
