The deadline to register to vote in elections taking place in England this May is 11:59pm on 16 April 2024.
Elections are being held on Thursday, 2 May for:
- Police and Crime Commissioner elections in England and Wales
- local government elections in England
- parish council elections in England
- local authority mayoral elections
- combined authority mayoral elections
- Mayor of London and London Assembly elections
The easiest way to register is by completing the online form on the gov.uk website. It’s simple to do and should only take around five minutes.
You will need your National Insurance number to register. If you don’t know your National Insurance number you can find advice on how to get it here. You can also apply for a National Insurance number if you’ve never had one.
