New friends, packed schedules and navigating your way around a new city – we know there’s a lot going on for you during Welcome Week, which is why we’ve put together this handy guide that sets out the key information you need. #HelloLivUni
Things you need to do
Before you arrive, you need to complete your University induction, activate your computing account, start the academic registration process, upload your photo to Liverpool Life and check out your Welcome Week timetable. More information on all of these essentials can be found on the Welcome webpages.
Once you’re in Liverpool, there are a few things you need to do too. You should make sure you have registered, picked up your student card and, if you’re an international student, you may need to register with the police.
Bus Pass
Guild President Rory Hughes has secured an exclusive ticket for students. Available at the Guild Shop, the pass costs £325 for the academic year, which is £55 cheaper than the standard Arriva pass.
Welcome Fair
The Welcome Fair is the place where you can find out about all of the societies and volunteering opportunities you can take advantage of during your time at the University. And yes, the rumours are true – as well as loads of great freebies and discounts, you can also get free Domino’s. All students are welcome, whether you’re a first year or a wise final year student.
Our Sport Welcome Fair is also taking place at the same time in the Sports and Fitness Centre.

Change can be both exciting and daunting, so remember that help and advice is always available from Student Services. To discuss your concerns, or simply to get some useful advice, please get in touch with our friendly staff.
Welcome Talk
We recommend you go to your Welcome Talk at the start of the week. This is an important introduction to University life. If you’re living in University accommodation, you’ll also be invited to a Warden Welcome talk during arrivals weekend.
Ask Me
Got a question? You’ll find staff and students across campus wearing Ask Me t-shirts on Monday, 17 and Tuesday, 18 September. Speak with the Ask Me helpers and they’ll do their best to help.

Guild events
From a comedy night with Lee Nelson to the highly anticipated Food Festival, the Guild have organised some incredible events that will kick off the start of term in style.
International students
As a new student, you’re invited to the Hello International! event, which is taking place Monday, 17 September at 9.15am (please arrive at 9am) in the Mountford Hall, inside the Liverpool Guild of Students (the University’s student union). The event is then repeated at 10:30am (please arrive at 10:15am).
From Sunday, 16 September Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) collection will also be available for international students.
Registration
All students can also confirm their attendance on a campus computer or by visiting Liverpool Life on their own device via the University Wi-Fi. The Computing Services Department will be on hand throughout Welcome Week to help students access IT services and set up their mobile devices. More information can be found via the CSD webpage.
Registration drop-in sessions will take place all week in the Central Teaching Laboratories in Liverpool. If you’re studying at the University of Liverpool in London, registrations will take place at the Student Experience Helpdesk.
For general enquiries, students are advised to email the Student Enquiries team or call 0151794 6758 to save time queuing at the Student Administration Centre.

Mature students event
We’ve got a Mature Students Welcome Event on Monday, 17 September at 10.15am. The event is your chance to find out about life at the University. You can also ask staff any questions you may have and meet other mature students. The event is taking place in Sherrington Building, Lecture Theatre Two.
London campus
The London campus will be hosting a series of events during Welcome Week.
If you’re studying in London, you’ll receive a full induction onto your programme and have the chance to meet the academics on your course. You can also meet other students and staff at a drinks reception on the top floor of the campus with views over Finsbury Square.
Information sessions on registration and life in London will be available for all students, and international students will have the opportunity to seek advice on police registration and any other visa queries.
The campus café, Café 33, will host an information exhibition where students can find out more about the support services on offer in London, such as accommodation, counselling and library support. A games night will also be taking place on campus.
Tips and reminders
Visit Liverpool Life to make sure we have your current term-time address. This will ensure any requests for status or bank letters are produced with the right address on. You’ll need to do this before you visit the Student Administration Centre in Liverpool or the Student Experience Helpdesk in London, or request a letter online.
Have you uploaded your photo to Liverpool Life? Upload your picture as soon as you can because you will need your card for the Library and Sports Centre. If you are based at the London campus, you will need your card to gain entry to the campus.
If you are a new undergraduate, remember to return your signed declaration to Student Finance. We can’t confirm your attendance to Student Finance England until you’ve done it, which could cause a delay in money finding its way to you.
