Campus safety measures: face coverings

As we move through semester two, with more staff and students on campus, it’s important to remain mindful of the safety and wellbeing of everyone in our University community – particularly those most at risk from COVID-19.

Below is a reminder of the University’s latest guidance on the use of face coverings on campus:

  • We strongly encourage you to continue to wear face coverings in all indoor spaces on campus, including teaching areas. We also continue to encourage those who are exempt from wearing a face covering to wear a sunflower lanyard. Lanyards are available for free from Student Services in the Alsop Building or can be purchased from Hidden Disabilities.
  • We ask that you wear a face covering (unless exempt) when being taught in person by a staff member at high risk from COVID-19. Please be aware that you may be asked at the start of a teaching session to wear a face covering by lecturers who are in this category.

While the latest national update and the notion of moving towards a greater sense of normality is extremely encouraging, the safety of our University community remains the ongoing priority.

The University continues to focus on ensuring that our campus is as COVID-secure as possible. Please continue to help keep our community safe by adhering to safety measures on campus.

All campus safety measures will be kept under regular review by our Campus Planning Group on a fortnightly basis, or as required in the event of any significant local or national changes.
