University Mental Health Day: Activities for students

health & wellbeing

Join us in celebrating University Mental Health Day on Thursday 9 March 2023.

We have events, activities taking place throughout the day and free gifts to give away, from 12pm-6pm in our Wellbeing Tent on Abercromby Square (weather permitting) and over in the Rendall Building.

Some events are limited and you’ll need to sign up here but the rest of the day you can just pop along for a chat or take part in activities designed to soothe your mind and help you to relax.

Events taking place include:

A Food & Mood workshop from The Wellbeing Team, all about healthy eating and wellbeing. Sign up to get your free goodie bag of delicious fruit and veg!

You Snooze, You… Win – Sleep Yourself Happy where you can learn more about sleep, how it relates to your wellbeing and why you may struggle to sleep.

There are also wellbeing activities taking place at Sport Liverpool throughout the day, including free sessions open to all students from 9am to 11am.

Take 15 minutes out for a meditation class starting at 9am – the perfect way to create a sense of calm, peace and balance. Reduce stress, promote emotional health and start your day well.

Increased stretching has been shown to increase serotonin levels which can help stabilise your mood, reduce stress and make you feel good. This can decrease feelings of depression and anxiety. Join our instructor Jen for this 45 minute Stretch and Relax class and leave feeling refreshed.

The Sport Liverpool team will also be handing out free cans of water to students to remind them of the importance of hydration, and posting a series of student case studies on their social media accounts promoting different ideas around mental health and wellbeing.

Mental Wellbeing at University

Most people have some idea about what mental wellbeing is. However, there are big differences between advice-giving, support, counselling, psychotherapy, coaching and mentoring.

At the University there are a number of people and services that can help you with all of these. Click here to find out more about the support available for students.
