Student volunteering opportunities to get involved with this month

Student Volunteers

Volunteering is a great way to enhance your CV, make friends, and boost your personal skills, whilst also giving something back to the wider community.

Here are a few ideas for volunteering opportunities that you could get involved with:

Gardening with the Guild

Liverpool Guild of Students is inviting you to volunteer for weekly gardening sessions around the Oliver Lodge Garden.

Becoming a gardening volunteer is a great opportunity to get involved with a brand-new project and experience planting, harvesting and general maintenance of the Oliver Lodge Garden. So why not spend an afternoon learning some gardening skills and helping to reduce the Guild’s carbon footprint? All materials will be provided so just bring yourself and get stuck in!

Fundraising Volunteer Claire Bear

Enjoy having a good laugh?

Claire House are looking for someone to be our wonderful mascot Claire Bear!

You’ll accompany a staff member on community visits to give young supporters a special thank you. They’re looking for a energetic, fun-loving and enthusiastic person – happy, friendly and always smiling! Claire Bear doesn’t speak so it’s strictly a non-speaking role.

You’ll need to keep the head on for short periods of time, so be mindful that you should be okay with enclosed spaces. You’ll also need to have good movement as the shoes can make it more difficult to walk.

Volunteer mentor for the Merseyside Offender Mentoring Project

The project supports men who are ex-offenders in the community by engaging them with a volunteer mentor who work with them weekly on a one-to-one basis to remove triggers of offending behaviour.

To do this, the support provided is holistic and bespoke to the ex-offender and led by the men themselves. This support has not only helped turn countless lives around but has contributed to a staggering reduction in re-offending rates across Merseyside.
