Protect your bike from theft: security marking and advice

Bicycle

If you’ve ever had your bicycle stolen, you’ll know how upsetting it can be.

The police regularly set up marking events to provide cycle security advice and offer security marking and registration onto BikeRegister’s online database.

Getting your bike security marked is a highly effective, visible deterrent to bike thieves. It helps police and retailers identify and verify the legitimate owner of bikes that have been stolen or are being resold, and thieves know that if they are caught with a registered bike, the owner can be traced and they will be arrested.

The next on-campus event takes place on Friday 26 January from 10am – 1pm on University Square.

There’s no need to book, just bring your bike along to get it security marked and registered, as well as picking up some practical tips that will help keep your bike safe and out of the hands of thieves.
