Everything you need to know about Semester 2 exams and assessments

The Semester 2 exam and assessment period is fast approaching – we’ve brought everything you need to know, from how to access your timetable to revision tips and wellbeing support, into one place.

Exam and assessment timetable

Your timetable for the Semester Two exam and assessment period is now available to view on the Exam Timetable Portal. This timetable is for undergraduate and taught postgraduate students.

Your timetable is available in two parts:

  • You can view any centrally-organised University exams – either online exams (up to 24 hours in length) or any in-person exams (in a room on campus) – on the Exam Timetable Portal. You can also access the portal via the Student Intranet page by clicking ‘Exam timetable’ in the Popular Links section.
  • Your School or Department will communicate information to you separately about locally organised assessments (online exam-style assessments completed over longer timeframes of up to five days), in-class tests, or coursework.

Don’t forget, your timetable will not be directly emailed to you. You should also check your exam timetable again the day before each exam to confirm the details. Remember, students from the same module may be in different venues so it is important that you use the details from your own timetable.

Exam and assessment preparation sessions and advice

KnowHow is running a series of exam prep sessions and online tutorials to help you prepare for assessments.

Dedicated sessions are available on preparing for in-person exams, as well as how to answer short and essay style exam questions.

Wellbeing support this exam and assessment period

Exam anxiety clinics

This month you can join the Wellbeing team for dedicated exam anxiety clinics, designed to help you deal with any worries you might have about sitting exams. The sessions will take place as follows:

  • Wednesday 1 May, 2pm, Rendall Building Seminar Room 4
  • Wednesday 8 May, 2pm, Rendall Building Seminar Room 4
  • Wednesday 15 May, 2pm, Brodie Tower Seminar Room 2

How to access further support

Exam and assessment season can be challenging. If you need support, remember teams across the University are here to help:

  • Student Services: Our Student Services team can help you with a range of non-academic issues including counselling, mental health, disability, international, money and advice. Student Services are based in the Student Life building (formerly the Alsop Building) on University Square. You can book an appointment with the team via their online booking system.
  • Health assured provide a phone helpline for University of Liverpool students. You can talk to a trained counsellor anytime of the day or night by calling 0800 028 3766
  • Emergency help: If you are on campus and feel unsafe, call campus support on 0151 794 2222 and they will come to help you. If you don’t feel that you can keep yourself safe, go to A&E or call 999 for an ambulance. If you don’t need immediate medical treatment and you’re unsure what the best option is for you, call NHS 111.
  • Academic support: The KnowHow team provide online academic support to help you to succeed in your studies.
  • Listening services: Samaritans: Call 116123 (24 hours, 365 days a year). Papyrus: Call 0800 068 41 41 (9am – 10pm weekdays, 2pm – 10pm at weekends and on bank holidays).
  • Schools and departments: You may find it helpful to talk to your school or your department. Learning and Teaching Support Officers can provide advice and support. You can find their contact details on your School intranet pages.
  • The Guild: The Guild offer free and confidential advice and are independent from the University.
  • Self-help hub: Our self-help hub has resources for a number of different topics including anxiety, depression, stress, imposter syndrome and sleep. The range of resources are designed to give you some ideas on what you can do to stop problems from escalating.
