As part our 2019 Liverpool Welcome, hundreds of new students are set to become our time travellers after receiving a free copy of The Time Machine by H.G. Wells.
600 English, Psychology and Physics students at the University of Liverpool will this week be receiving a copy of world famous book, The Time Machine. They are being asked to read and consider it, and then come and get involved in some of the related events being organised throughout the 2019/20 academic year.
For those who haven’t received a copy of the book, we would still love you to get involved! All of our students can download The Time Machine as an e-book from the Library.

About The Great Read
The Great Read scheme at the University is a pilot for Welcome 2019. By reading the same book, the hope is that students and staff will be able to share their thoughts and experiences and have plenty to talk about when they meet.
If you have received a copy of the book you can choose to share it with fellow students, family or friends, keep it as a gift from the University, or swap it in our book swap event later in the year.

H.G. Wells’s The Time Machine, published in 1895, is the first and greatest portrayal of time-travel, addressing political, social and scientific ideas that are still relevant to our world through a compelling story of adventure and danger. The book was chosen by Professor Dinah Birch, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Cultural Engagement and Professor of English Literature at the University of Liverpool.
