Due to the ongoing COVID-19 developments, regrettably the University has decided to withdraw all Summer Abroad opportunities for 2020. Applications will no longer be accepted for Summer Abroad programmes – all students who have previously submitted an application will be contacted to confirm the withdrawal of the scheme.
Other Study Abroad programmes for academic year 2020/21 (Semester Abroad, Year Abroad and Year in China) are currently continuing as planned and students will be informed of the outcome of their applications by 9 March 2020. The University will continue to closely monitor the development of COVID-19 and will ensure that, if it is necessary to withdraw any other Study Abroad schemes, this will be done before students have made any significant financial commitments to the programme.
Gavin Brown, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education, said, “We know that students will be disappointed at the withdrawal of the 2020 Summer Abroad opportunities. However, given the speed with which the situation is changing and the uncertainty this causes, we feel this is the most appropriate decision at this time. We are hopeful that Summer Abroad opportunities will be back open for applications next academic year.”
This decision relates to Summer Programmes delivered through the Study Abroad team only and does not affect students who are already abroad or due to go abroad on other programmes in the near future as part of their Liverpool degree programme. The University continues to closely monitor the situation regarding coronavirus in countries where our students are resident on, or due to depart shortly for, University business and will contact you on a group or individual basis if required. If you have any concerns please do not hesitate to contact your School Student Experience team or the Study Abroad team.
